Now that Microsoft has acquired Skype, the Windows operating system delivers updates to the program via Automatic Updates. The latest Skype version does say on the download page, that it should be compatible with OS X 10.6.8 But on trying to install Skype message says I need OS X 10.9 minimum, so the download page is incorrect.

Those of you running 10.9 or testing 10.10 can use the newer Skype version 6.19.
